Abstract

It is now over four years since the first probation order with a condition of supervised antabuse therapy was made. Since then debate has tended to polarise around the issue of 'chemical control v. social work help'. This case illustration is a follow-up to John Smith's earlier article in Probation Journal (December 1983). Here he argues that the administration of antabuse should be but a small part of an overall plan which is otherwise recognisable in conventional social work terms.
