Abstract

Abstract The case of as yet undescribed combined prominent Crista Terminalis and atrial septal aneurism is presented. The association, due to the complex embryogenesis of the two structures- fossa ovalis and Crista Terminalis, sharing partly common origin, may not be casual. The clinical relevance of the association is unknown, in fact it was an occasional finding of echocardiography, but arguably there could be a tendency to atrial repetitive arrhythmias and a somewhat increased thromboembolic risk. Cardiac Magnetic Resonance can completely elucidate cases such as this one, clearly showing location, morphology, mobility and tissue characters (eg lipid or water content) of cardiac masses.
