A past president of the American Public Health Association (1977) and president-elect of the American College of Preventive Medicine, Dr. Pickett has served as Health Officer in Detroit and Wayne County, Michigan, San Mateo County, California, and as Director of the West Virginia State Health Department before moving to a University setting in 1980.
