Abstract

The second representative of a new isometopine species Archemyiomma schaeferi sp. n. is described from the Eocene Ukrainian (Rovno) amber. The finding of a species from the same genus Archemyiomma Herczek, 1993 is an additional proof that Rovno (Ukraine) and Baltic ambers are of Eocene age. The inclusion belongs to the collection of the Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kiev. The chapter briefly explains the taxonomy of the new isometopine species, and defines their types, diagnosis, composition, description and etymology. In addition to the differences between the close species some climatic and ecological distinctions of Ukranian (Rovno) and Baltic ambers may also have contributed to existence of these different species. Keywords: Archemyiomma schaeferi ; Baltic amber; Eocene age; isometopine species; Rovno amber; Ukrainian amber
