Abstract
For the second time since last fall, a federal judge has determined that a local jail system's refusal to provide medication‐assisted treatment (MAT) to an incarcerated offender likely violates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These court rulings, coupled with growing evidence from successful correctional MAT initiatives at the state and local levels, suggest that corrections systems going forward will have a difficult time trying to justify withholding evidence‐based treatment for opioid use disorders (OUDs).
