Abstract

Current-voltage (I–V) characteristics for junctions of the Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu2O8+ δ /Bi2Sr2Nd1Cu2O8+δ/ Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu2O8+ δ (BSCCO/BSNCO/BSCCO) system have been investigated. These junctions showed non-linear characteristics. When barrier thickness was thicker than 10nm, I–V curves have shown strong irregularity which included negative electrical resistance regions. That regions appeared at the temperatures under the Tc of BSCCO and became significant at lower temperatures. These features changed with barrier thickness and area size of each junction. Clear responses to the microwave irradiations have been observed as current steps which depended on the ac Josephson effect. The steps were also observed at the negative resistance regions. These characteristics changed under different radiation power. This result suggested that the ac Josephson effect existed at these negative resistance regions.
