Abstract
The approach of Distler, Kawai and David to minimal models coupled to two-dimensional gravity may be extended in a straightforward way to W -gravity. When the chiral algebra is the generalisation of the W -algebra associated to any semisimple Lie algebra the total central charge vanishes as a result of identities which also guarantee the existence of dressed vertex operators of vanishing conformal weight.
