Abstract

Three cases of partial anomalous venous drainage of the left upper lobe are presented. In each case, the anomalous vertical vein could be seen on conventional radiographs as an abnormal mediastinal density lateral to the aortic knob. All diagnoses were confirmed by angiography. The diagnosis of partial anomalous venous drainage of the left upper lobe should be considered whenever such an abnormal mediastinal shadow is seen.
