Abstract

We have demonstrated that CsVCl 3 is a very good realization of spin 3 2 , 1D Heisenberg antiferromagnetic system with J'/ J = 2.7 x 10 4 through the inelastic scattering of neutrons. In this substance, the antiferromagnetic coupling in the basal triangular lattice plane causes a frustration effect. We have observed certain “mysterious” properties. For instance, the excitation spectra in the plane are difficult to explain by the simple spin wave theory.
