Abstract
The extension of the concept of acoustic metasurface to elastic waves in solids is considered by proposing the elastic SH wave metasurface. The designed metasurface, fabricated with two solid materials, can approximately realize impedance matching. The ability of steering SH waves is demonstrated numerically. Firstly, according to the generalized Snell's law (GSL), the designed metasurface deflect the vertical incident waves in desired directions. Then, the metasurface with the effect of focusing elastic SH waves is design to achieve a very narrow focal point. The current study can be potentially useful for applications such as directional detection, enhanced sensing and energy harvesting.
