Abstract

The validity of the usual phenomenological treatment of the anomalous magnetic moments of nucleons is investigated for processes involving nucleon-photon interaction. By using the charge-symmetrical pseudoscalar meson theory with pseudoscalar coupling, it is shown that the phenomenological treatment completely breaks down for photon energies of a few hundred Mev in the rest system of the nucleon.
