The early stage of anomalous grain growth of iron-silicon sheets is characterized by coalescence of similarly oriented grains with dislocation emission rather than grain boundary migration. Regions of similarly oriented grains may originate from giant grains forming during the first hot rolling pass and involving orientation differences up to about 30°.
