Abstract

The transient field technique has been used to measure precessions of excited states in24Mg. The results are compared with those of20Ne for which g-factor values were obtained in strong contradiction to current theories. The backbending observed for20Ne is proposed to be responsible for this finding in analogy to observations for the rare earth nucleus158Dy.
