Abstract

After the installation of a lithium-drifted germanium [Gel (Li)] gamma-ray detector in a vacuum cryostat at 77°K, a negative differential resistance was observed that was stable and measurable using d.c. methods. This letter describes the results and measured characteristics obtained so far.
