Abstract

An anomalous contribution of the type T2 ln T to free energy and consequently T ln T type behaviour of entropy and specific heat at low temperatures in magnetic alloys with Ce impurities in the presence of crystalline electric field (CEF) is predicted. For this purpose an effective Hamiltonian which characterises the large resonant scattering and the CEF was used. Such a dominant anomalous behaviour obtained in second order is interesting and should be observable experimentally.
