Abstract
Discreteness of the energy levels of electrons in matter in a magnetic field (Landau levels) appears for a range of values of the magnetic field and the pressure. Within the framework of a modified Thomas-Fermi model, taking into account Landau quantization, the equation of state of matter in a superstrong magnetic field as well as the acoustic velocity as a function of pressure are calculated. The latter is oscillatory.
