Abstract

In most models of anodically formed salt films, the kinetic is linked to the mass transport of the different species in the electrolyte and through the film. Steady measurements are not sufficient to choose between the different models, in particular because these films are often unstable and nearly impossible to study by ex situ methods. Consequently, these systems are often investigated by transient electrochemical methods such as ac impedance and EHD impedance. Interpretation of these experiments requires extensive modelling efforts, in this paper different models corresponding to different practical situations such as: the dissolution of iron in sulphuric acid, the dissolution of copper in hydrochloric acid and the dissolution of copper in phosphoric acid, are presented.
