Abstract

The disproportional reaction of copper in bromide solution has been investigated by channel flow double electrode (CFDE). The cuprous ions emitted from the copper working electrode can be determined directly by CFDE. The formation rate of cuprous ions by disproportional reaction was accelerated by the bromide concentration and solution convection. The disproportional reaction was composed of following anodic and cathodic reactions: Anodic reaction : Cu+ Br −→ CuBr+ e −, CuBr+ Br −→ CuBr 2 − Cathodic reaction : Cu 2++ Br −+ e −→ CuBr, CuBr+ Br −→ CuBr 2 −
