Abstract

ABSTRACTHull and Hartree curves of relativistic A6 magnetron with shaped anode face are theoretically re-investigated and numerically simulated to show that a set of curves are obtained for this type of modification. Also, a new shaped anode A6 magnetron (SA6) is introduced for which its anode radius is decreased, but the operating point is not changed so that the angular velocity of electrons is close to the phase velocity of 2π-mode. In this way by eliminating the π-mode, the oscillation power is essentially due to the 2π-mode. The simulation results obtained by a full-time domain solver and Particle-In-Cell-based software are compared with those of A6 magnetron.
