Abstract

Herein we report a method for the heterogeneously catalytic synthesis of tetrahydroquinolines via an annulation of N,N-dimethylanilines and maleimides. The reactions utilized the commercially available materials CuFe2O4, tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) co-oxidant, and acetonitrile solvent. The condition was tolerant of a wide range of functional groups including bromo, ester, cyano, and secondary amine groups. The XRD result of recycled CuFe2O4 particles showed no significant difference compared to that of the fresh material.
