Abstract

Ring-shaped photoinduced light scattering in pure and iron-doped lithium niobate crystals is found and studied under irradiation by a laser beam directed perpendicularly to the optic axis of the crystal. The scattering is observed in the directions of both reflected and transmitted pump beams. The structure and kinetics of the reported photorefractive scattering suggest that the phase-matching condition should be fulfilled in the vector interaction of the pump and scattered beams.
