Abstract

To the Editor: In 2003, Annessi and colleagues1 described annular lichenoid dermatitis of youth (ALDY) as a new clinicopathologic entity in 23 Italian children and adolescents. The patients presented with annular patches and thin plaques with red-brown borders and central hypopigmentation that favored the flanks and groin. Characteristic histologic features included a band-like, polyclonal lymphocytic infiltrate in the papillary dermis and keratinocyte necrosis localized to the tips of elongated quadrangular rete ridges, which alternated with thinner rete ridges.
