Abstract
In this study the annual variation of the relationship between cloud coverage given in tenths and daily values of radiation has been determined using METEOSAT analogue paper pictures and surface global radiation measurements. We found a quadratic equation for the vicinity of Budapest and the region of Hungary. The calculated radiation values are compared to the measured ones. The accuracy of the formulas for Budapest is 0.917 and for the region of Hungary is 0.949, using data from period between November 1981 and July 1983.
