Klein Book Award to the best book published on Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region. At the PHA Conference in Shippensburg October 6–8, 2016, the award was presented to Dr. Jean R. Soderlund of Lehigh University for Lenape Country: Delaware Valley Society before William Penn, published in 2014 as part of the Early American Studies Series of the University of Pennsylvania Press. Congratulations to Dr. Soderlund!Mira Lloyd Dock (1853–1945) was honored October 13, 2016, by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. DCNR renamed their Penn Nursery just south of State College on Route 322 the Mira Lloyd Dock Resource Conservation Center. The nursery grows tree seedlings for planting in state parks and forests. Dock was the first woman hired for a state government leadership position on the State Forestry Reservation Commission in 1901. As a commission member, she...
