Abstract

We calculate the spectra of intensity and polarization of the annihilation radiation produced by one-dimensional thermal or power-law distributions of e ∓ on the ground Landau level in strong magnetic fields B ~ 1012 G. The spectra depend strongly on the angle θ between the magnetic field and line-of-sight. The results are used for interpreting the annihilation features observed in some gamma-ray burst spectra. Narrowest features can be interpreted in terms of the one- dimensional thermal e ∓ distributions. Broad features with power-law tails can be produced by power-law-distributed e ∓ if the detected annihilation radiation is strongly beamed along the magnetic field or if it comes from an extended region with sufficiently inhomogeneous magnetic field.
