Abstract
The time dependence of annihilation and the life-time of an edge dislocation dipole at elevated temperatures is studied theoretically. The driving forces for the gradual approach of both dislocations composing the dipole are due to their elastic interaction. The two dislocations approach one another by climbing by the emission or absorption of vacancies; climbing is complemented by gliding.
