Abstract
To study the transition of vapor condensed water from the amorphous to a polycrystalline state we doped water matrices with free base phthalocyanine and investigated the annealing behavior of its optical spectra. Hole-burning experiments indicate irreversible structural relaxations at low annealing temperatures. During crystallization the local environments of the dye molecules are altered which gives rise to a marked change of the dye absorption spectrum.
