Abstract

The aim of this publication is to describe and analyse the process of development and implementation of basic Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the city of Valencia. This educational level is specified in the framework of the current Organic Law for the Improvement of Educational Quality (LOMCE) in the Basic Vocational Training (FPB) programmes and in the Basic Qualification Training Programmes (PFCB), the latter being a specific concretion of the Valencian Community. To this end, this study focuses on educational practices at this level from a dimensional perspective of social justice that allows us to relate the itineraries produced in the programmes with the possibilities of social participation of the students who take them. Thus, the way in which we address inequalities in the education system does not focus directly on the study of school failure and/or early school leaving, but rather on the practices in the educational contexts aimed at these students and the effects on their future pathways.
