Abstract

The semi-arid region has peculiar characteristics, among them the lack of rainfall for a long period of time. The objective is the temporal analysis of the behavior of the pluviometric regime in the municipality of Paudalho in the last 25 years. The rainfall data were acquired from the Northeast Development Superintendence and the Pernambuco Water and Climate Agency covering the period from 1992 to 2016. The averages, standard deviation, coefficient of variance, maximum and minimum absolute values of the study area were calculated. The local contributions, the Intertropical Convergence Zone, the Maddem - Juliem Oscillation acted with intensity and caused mostly above-normal rainfall in some decades, registering disasters of moderate to intense proportions. In the climatological analysis of rainfall in the municipality under study, the months March to August had the highest rainfall with 77.5% of the annual total and the months from September to February had the lowest rainfall with 22.5% of the annual rainfall.
