Abstract

The most used wastewater treatment process in the beverage industry consists of the following steps: preliminary treatment, where coarse solids are removed, secondary treatment (anaerobic phase), responsible for the degradation of most of the organic load of the effluent, and tertiary treatment ( aerobic phase), which serves as an after-treatment, removing pollutants that remain after the anaerobic phase. In this treatment process, the secondary treatment (anaerobic phase) is the step that most contributes to the removal of pollutants from the effluent, therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze the performance of the anaerobic reactor with internal circulation in the treatment of effluents from a large industry of beverages, producer of soft drinks.
