Abstract
The pineapple cv. Vitoria has shown high productivity in relation to other cultivars. However, this cultivar is still little adopted due to the low availability and high cost of seedlings. The objective of this study was to estimate the cost of production and make an economic evaluation of cv. Vitoria, comparing it with the estimated costs for ‘Perola’ and ‘Smooth Cayenne’. The comparative results showed a profit of approximately 160% higher than cv. Perola for cv. Vitoria and 237% higher than cv. Smooth Cayenne, in single and double row planting, respectively. The profit per fruit in cv. Vitoria was 54.7% higher than the ‘Perola’ pineapple and 124.6% higher than ‘Smooth Cayenne’. Considering the evaluated phytosanitary risk, the profit per fruit in cv. Vitoria was 163% and 337% higher in relation to ‘Perola’ and ‘Smooth Cayenne’ pineapples, respectively. Among the evaluated options, it is more economically feasible to produce Vitoria pineapple due to its greater productivity, profitability, and resistance to fusariosis.

A análise e conhecimento dos custos de produção são fatores essenciais para o efetivo controle da empresa rural, fornecendo subsídios à racionalização do uso dos recursos com vistas a incrementar os resultados econômicos da atividade. O cultivo do abacaxi 'Vitória' representa uma alternativa de produção, por resistir à fusariose e possuir bom desenvolvimento e crescimento, com frutos de excelente qualidade para o mercado, pesando em torno de 1,5 kg, e maior resistência ao transporte pós-colheita (Ventura et al, 2009a). A análise econômica possibilita verificar como os recursos empregados em um processo de produção estão sendo remunerados, possibilitando também comparar a rentabilidade da atividade com a cultura em relação às alternativas de emprego do tempo e capital (Reis, 2007). Por ser uma variedade ainda pouco adotada e com dificuldades na obtenção de material propagativo, o custo da muda do abacaxi 'Vitória' tem sido superior às demais cultivares comerciais.
