Abstract

1. Ankle sprain is one of the most common sports injuries, including acute ankle sprain, lateral ankle instability, medial ankle sprain, and subtalar instability belong. 2. After diagnosis of acute ankle sprains is carried out by physical examination, three views of the ankle, USG, and MRI, preferentially conservative treatment is undergone. Stress X-ray is not recommended in diagnosis of acute ankle sprains. 3. In the surgical treatment of lateral ankle instability, various treatment options such as anatomic repair, nonanatomic tenodesis, and anatomic reconstruction can be performed. 4. Isolated medial ankle sprains occur less than lateral ankle sprains; deltoid ligament injuries occur in association with fracture or lateral ligamentous injuries. 5. Recently, subtalar instability has come to the fore, but its diagnosis and treatment method remains the subject of discussion.
