Abstract
The anisotropy of the Ll transition emission following heavy ion-atom collisions has been measured at a projectile velocity corresponding to 1.4 MeV N-1 kinetic energy. The atomic numbers of the collision partners range up to Z=92 covering a wide range of Z1/Z2 values. A discrepancy between the experiment and direct Coulomb excitation predictions has been observed and is considered to be due to quasimolecular excitation processes as well as to satellite line structures.
