Abstract

AbstractThe anisotropy of the helicon propagation in PbTe has been investigated theoretically using the anisotropic magneto‐conductivity tensor for static magnetic fields directed along the [100] and [110] axes of the crystal, the wave vector being rotated in a [110] plane. Experiments have been performed with flat samples of p‐ and n‐type PbTe single crystals. In the experiments, the wave vector was directed along the [100], [110], and [111] axes of the crystal. A marked dependence of the resonance frequency and the Q‐value of the helicons on the direction of the wave vector with respect to the magnetic field direction and the crystal axes has been observed.
