Abstract

Based on existing quasi-isotropic strand (QIS) conductor and twisted stacked tape cable–cable in conduit conductor (TSTC-CICC), this paper proposed a novel QIS-CICC. The conductor was numerically modeled and the anisotropy of critical currents was analyzed. The simulations showed that although the critical currents of the QIS-CICC were worse than those of the TSTC-CICC for the self-field condition, the current decay of the QIS-CICC was far less than that of the TSTC-CICC under a 1 T external field, and the anisotropies of the two conductors were almost the same.
