Abstract
To investigate the diamagnetic anisotropic properties of a Bi 2Sr 2CaCu 2O 8+δ fiber, which has a complex network of highly oriented platelets, low field a.c. and d.c. susceptibility, as well as magnetization, up to 5 T, measurements were performed. At 4.2 K inter-platelet critical fields, H cJ⊥ ≈(200±25) Oe and H cJ‖ ≈ (50±30) Oe, perpendicular and parallel to the fiber axis, respectively, and intra-platelet critical currents, J c⊥ =(0.5–2.)×10 5 A/ cm 2 and J c‖ =(0.8–1.5)×10 4 A/ cm 2, were derived. Finally, the results are discussed within the Biggs model framework.
