Abstract

Temperature and magnetic field dependences of magnetization, magnetostriction and thermal expansion were measured for ordered Pt-Fe alloys in the intermediate concentration range between 25 and 32 at% Fe of the transition from antiferromagnetism to ferromagnetism through formation of clusters embedded in AF matrix. Anisotropy of critical fields was determined and the reorientation of the vector of antiferromagnetism was followed. Tetragonal distortion of the lattice accompanies the change of the effective anisotropy field. Complex and anisotropic magnetostrictive deformations are connected with the changes in the magnetic structure.
