Abstract

Composites from polystyrene and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were prepared by a forge-rolling method. The predominant CNT alignment with the rolling direction was deduced from measurements of filler content dependence on the composite permittivity. A simple method of CNT reorientation in polymer matrix was developed, and it was shown that the effective longitudinal polarizability of nanotubes in the samples obtained is ˜5 times larger than the transverse one.
