Abstract

Magnetization curves obtained on a tetragonal GdRu2Si2 single crystal along the [100] and [001] axes are presented. Below TN = 47 K, they exhibit several metamagnetic transitions and a strong anisotropy, a behaviour quite unusual in a Gd compound. A second phase transition at 40 K suggests a change of the magnetic structure.
