Abstract

Low temperature measurements of the magnetic properties of single crystals of ErBa 2Cu 3O 7-x are used to study the effect of crystal anisotropy on the superconductivity of this material. The crystals, with a T c of 60 K, show marked anisotropy in magnetization versus applied magnetic field and in magnetization versus temperature, with superconductivity primarily occuring in the ab plane.
