Abstract

We have performed 237Np Mössbauer measurements on the solid solutions Np x U 1- x Pd 2Al 3 and Np x U 1- x Ru 2Si 2 (0.1 ⩽ x ⩽ 1.0). The electric hyperfine interactions display a weak x dependence. In Np x U 1- x Pd 2Al 3 the Néel temperature T N (and the Np moment μ Np) decrease from 38 K ( μ Np = 1.7 μ B) at x = 1.0 down to 3 K (0.3 μ B at x = 0.3. T N increases again up to 14 K at x = 0.0. The collapse at x = 0.3 is accompanied by a rotation of μ Np out of the crystallographic c-axis. The moment μ U(0.8 B) of UPd 2Al 3 is perpendicular to the c-axis. In Np x U 1- x Ru 2Si 2 the ordered moment μ ord is parallel to the c-axis between x = 0.0 and 1.0. Although μ ord strongly differs between NpRu 2Si 2 (1.5 μ B) and URu 2Si 2 (0.04 μ B), μ N p does not vary from x = 1.0 to 0.1. T N decreases below x = 0.5 from 25 K to 17.5 K.
