Abstract

Ultrasound image shows anatomical structure of human body. The lesion detectability is reduced by a factor of eight due to the presence of speckle hampering the perception and extraction of fine details, and the image has a granular aspect. The speckle is a random multiplicative noise caused by signals with different phase relations received from many sub-scatterers. A new method of removing speckles by a combination of two methods, diffusion and Wavelet transform, is presented.
