Abstract

Closed-cell Al–Mg alloy (A5052) foams are produced through accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) process. The preform plate containing uniform titanium hydride (TiH 2) particles is manufactured after six ARB cycles. Macroscopic porosity is as large as 47% in the condition of infrared heating at 913 K. Compressive tests are carried out in the condition of different loading axes. Yield stress in the normal direction (ND) was lower than other loading directions. Anisotropic deformation behavior is due to the anisotropic cell morphology which was induced during the ARB process.
