Abstract

Anisakiasis of the GI tract is caused by the ingestion of raw fish or uncooked foods infested with Anisakis larvae.1 Most cases present as acute gastritis.2-4 Anisakiasis of the intestine and colon is rare,5,6 and only a few patients treated by colonoscopic removal of the worm from the colon have been reported.7 This is a report of the first case of anisakiasis of the ileocecal valve diagnosed and treated by colonoscopy.
