Abstract
AbstractThe polymerization of chloroprene (CP), vinyl chloride (VC), vinylidene chloride (VDC), and 2,3‐dichlorobutadiene, initiated by Li and Mg catalysts, has been studied. The kinetic schemes for the cases of CP–metal alkyl and VC–LiBu are given, and some of the reaction constants are calculated. New catalytic systems formed through the interaction of LiBu with Bu3Mg2I and with BuI are described. The main feature of the processes initiated by these systems is the decrease in the relative importance of the termination reaction as it was established for CP, VC, and VDC. A mechanism of the catalytic systems investigated is proposed.
