Abstract

In this paper, we report the obtention of α-Ag2WO4/Zn–Cr Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) composite via a facile anion-exchange precipitation reaction method by adding AgNO3 solution into WO42- anions intercalated Zn–Cr LDHs suspensions. X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electronic microscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrum were used to characterize the products. It was found that α-Ag2WO4 crystals were dispersed on the surface of Zn–Cr LDHs materials on a large scale. The photocatalytic degradation studies on Rhodamine B indicate that α-Ag2WO4/Zn–Cr LDHs composite shows a higher visible-light-driven photocatalytic activity for degradation of organic pollutants than α-Ag2WO4 crystals and Zn–Cr LDHs. The possible photocatalytic mechanism is also discussed. Finally, a facile approach to fabricate novel types of visible-light-induced photocatalysts for environment treatment was discovered.
