Abstract

Summary The present study investigated the relationship between the animistic responses given by 96 fifth and sixth grade children (61 girls and 35 boys) and their parents (95 mothers and 71 fathers). The results indicated a significant relationship between the responses given by the mothers and the children. The relationship between the fathers and the children was nonsignificant. It was suggested that the quality of mother-child interaction, especially in the area of language interchange, may have an influence on the child's development of the concept of life.
