Abstract

AbstractAirway inflammation and hyperresponsiveness (AHR) are hallmarks and distinguishing features of bronchial asthma. This unit contains protocols that employ a mouse model for the study of allergen‐induced AHR. It includes methods for sensitizing mice to allergens via the airways and assessing tracheal smooth muscle reactivity in vitro and in vivo. Protocols to measure and evaluate immunological mechanisms that contribute to the development to allergen‐induced asthma are also provided.
