Abstract

Anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia is a rare disease characterized by deficient sweating, sparse hair growth, and deficient teeth. In a family with typical manifestations in three generations, the propositus and his affected brother, both of whom have an occupational exposure to dust, have bronchitis that is especially severe in the propositus. Other relatives with anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia are not similarly affected. In this disease the bronchial mucosa may be abnormal and may result in severe bronchitis in a dusty environment.
