Abstract

The perturbation series for the ground-state wave function of the anharmonic oscillator has been reexamined. Rigorous analysis enables the factoring of behavior dominant in the true eigenfunction. In particular, the perturbation problem is found to reduce significantly if the asymptotic WKB wave function of zero order is employed as the zero-order wave function.
